Hey there! I'm Safiya, the creator of Feast with Safiya. I wear many hats – I'm a mom, food photographer, and recipe developer. I'm thrilled you're here to learn about me and try out my recipes. On this site, you'll discover a blend of modern and authentic Indian recipes, ones that I regularly whip up for my family. Each recipe I share has been tested and perfected over the years, so you're in for a treat! I promise.
I'm an Indian-American, raised in a small town in India. Now, I reside in beautiful Salt Lake City, Utah, with my husband and kids. I've made incredible friends from diverse backgrounds, making Utah feel like my second home.
My Passion for Cooking
Cooking isn't just a pastime for me; it's been a part of my life since childhood. I spent countless moments in the kitchen with the women in my family, assisting in meals, and even cooked my first dish with my older brother back in 4th grade. Those kitchen memories with loved ones, friends, and neighbors hold a special place in my heart.
You'll find a mix of recipes here, some with a modern American twist. After marrying my American husband, I delved into experimenting with diverse flavors and cuisines. So, you'll stumble upon recipes designed for both Indian and non-Indian palates, like Indo-American Meatball Curry, and Hasselback Butternut Squash. Rest assured, all my fusion and modern Indian recipes have been rigorously tested – my husband often plays the role of taste tester for these.
Cooking with Clean Ingredients
I follow in my mother's footsteps by cooking with wholesome, clean ingredients. My approach involves using plenty of veggies, a bit of meat, and an abundance of spices. Cooking with nutritious whole foods isn't just a fad for me; it's a lifestyle I've been raised on.
